Ongoing: Class Exhibition

Over the course of the semester we'll have an ongoing "class exhibition" – a collection of objects that present an impression, idea, argument, etc. about our current thinking.

This is more a social exercise than meant as a refined design outcome – as the audience for our exhibition is ourselves class rather than the public. The project's aim is to be a catalyst for conversation and reflection about the topics at hand and the exhibition medium, used as a tool to discuss our ideas.

As the class progresses the exact shape and form of the exhibition will change, but at first it will just be a box where we hold things so we can access and reference them. I'll add prompts here as we move through the class.

Week 1

What's in My Bag
For our first class exhibtion exercise, we will simply look for an item in our bag, and use it to share about ourselves with the class. What you share does not need to be meaningful or deep, it's just meant to give us some insights, personality, background etc. At the end of the class period, we'll brielfy share our object with the rest of the class. You won't need to leave the object today, but in the future, plan to leave future items in the class exhibition.

Week 2

Representative Graphic
Bring in one small object (no bigger than an a3 book) to add to the exhibition under the topic of “representative graphic” that is not made by you. this could be a logo you like, favorite mascot, packaging from your favorite food/drink, your favorite website (how would you bring this to share as a physical object? a qr code?), etc.
